I will now be analysing the introduction of Anne Hathaway’s character, Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada.

The opening scene of The Devil Wears Prada introduces Anne Hathaway’s character, Andrea Sachs, as an intelligent but naive young woman who is eager to break into the world of journalism. ‘Suddenly I See’ by KT Tunstall is featured to emphasise Andrea’s transformation and growing confidence. The song plays during a collage where Andrea embraces her new fashionable look and adapts to the Runway world. She is portrayed as down-to-earth, dressed in plain, unfashionable clothes that immediately contrast with the glamorous, high-fashion environment of Runway magazine.
