Analysing opening sequences, Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back

The fourth opening sequence I will be looking at is Star Wars The Force Awakens which is a sci-fi.

The opening sequence of Star Wars The Force Awakens begins with the iconic Lucasfilm logo, which sets up the ongoing conflict between the Resistance and the First Order. It introduces key characters, including Kylo Ren, who presents his force powers, and the heroic Poe Dameron, who displays bravery. The central mystery of the film, Luke Skywalker’s disappearance, is introduced through Poe’s mission to deliver an important map. The sequence mixes action with lighter moments, such as Poe’s interactions with BB-8, while John Williams’ score adds to the tension. Through action rather than description, the sequence introduces new characters, and highlights the story within the familiar Star Wars universe.
